According to report in the Daily Mail (here) the massive vetting system set up to safeguard children and the elderly could still allow abusers to slip through the net, the head of the scheme admitted yesterday.
Sir Roger Singleton warned the controversial regime may not be foolproof, even though millions of workers are required to sign up to it.
It could result in employers ‘slackening off’ their scrutiny of applicants’ backgrounds because of a false confidence in its ability to weed out unsuitable candidates, he said.
