Pupils who make false allegations of abuse by teachers will be called to account

Pupils who make false allegations of abuse by teachers will be forced to “bear responsibility” for their actions, Education Secretary Charles Clarke pledged yesterday.Speaking to The Birmingham Post, Mr Clarke said he was discussing with the Home Office the type of measures that could be taken.Moves to stop pupils ruining teachers’ lives by inventing accusations against them were planned in order to improve morale and job-satisfaction in the profession, he said.Mr Clarke said: “We are ready to take steps to deal with the cases where false allegations are made by children against teachers – which does happen and can be extremely demoralising and debilitating – to make that a much more difficult thing to do, by ensuring people bear responsibility for the allegations they make.”The exact proposals we are still discussing with the Home Office.”…
