Woman faces jail over rape lies
ByHenderson, 40, of Woodmancote, Gloucs, was convicted in September of perverting the course of justice. The judge lifted an order giving her anonymity saying it was right the public should know her identity.
Recorder David Lane QC said Henderson had sought to use the justice system “for her own unscrupulous ends”.
The court was told the allegations against her ex-husband were almost identical to those she made five years earlier against a previous partner.
Mr Cooke was held for 36 hours in a police cell following his arrest.
At Gloucester Crown Court Henderson was described as “a wicked liar” by the prosecution.
Henderson’s anonymity was protected by an order under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 because her complaint was of a sexual nature.
But Judge Lane lifted the restriction after the jury’s verdict because he said the offence with which she had been charged – perverting the course of justice – was not sexual.
